New Orleans is a Louisiana city on the Mississippi River, near the Gulf of Mexico. Nicknamed the "Big Easy," it's known for its round-the-clock nightlife, vibrant live-music scene and spicy, singular cuisine reflecting its history as a melting pot of French, African and American cultures. Embodying its festive spirit is Mardi Gras, the late-winter carnival famed for raucous costumed parades and street parties.

In 1791, the French Market originated as a Native American trading post along the Mississippi River. From there it continued to evolve into a cultural and commercial hub for New Orleans, as French and Spanish colonists opened the market up to ships and traders from all over the world. Over the next three centuries, immigrants from Europe, Africa and the Caribbean began to open their own venues at this French Quarter market, offering everything from Italian butcheries to African coffee and Choctaw spices.

Congo Square/Louis Armstrong Park. The park is located in the Tremé neighborhood, birthplace of many of New Orleans'
most famous jazz musicians. Formerly known as Place de Negres, it took its name from the tradition of slaves who gathered
there on Sundays, their day off, to sing, beat drums, sell home-made goods, and celebrate.

If you think that the Tim Horton's lines are long...the Cafe Du Monde lines are crazy. The coffee wasn't even that great and the Beignets (which is what they are famous for) is so full of "sugar"...

Well, we found a Starbucks the next day and picked up two cups-seems my little sister forgot to pick one up for herself when she was down.

Then we hobbled back to the hotel. It was getting late.
